Hello, I am a physiotherapist with nearly forty years of experience in the NHS, for the last 22 years I have specialised in Pelvic Health treating a wide range of conditions but with a particular interest in continence. I have seen first-hand the effect these sometimes-hidden conditions can have on people’s physical and mental well-being, and the difference that often simple interventions can make their life experience.
I undertook acupuncture training 10 years ago with Carl, immediately seeing the benefits that it could offer my patients. My interest in acupuncture has transformed my practice. I have gone on to undertake a PhD studying the impact of acupuncture on OAB symptoms which included leading a Cochrane Interventional Review. My PhD studies re-invigorated my love of learning and taught me valuable lessons in appraising research.
I am convinced that acupuncture can be successfully aligned alongside other therapeutic measures to enhance patient care and efficient use of resources. As part of a quality improvement project, I introduced a multi-bed acupuncture clinic for OAB in an NHS setting reducing waiting times for treatment by 90%. I have recently started working with Breeze Academy full time as a course tutor, teaching on the Entry, Foundation and Pelvic Health courses. I look forward to meeting new course delegates and passing on my experience and enthusiasm for acupuncture.
